Crowsnest Pass National Historic Event. Highway 3 Pullout, Crowsnest Lake, Alberta. The opening of Crowsnest Pass played a key role in bring southern Alberta and British Columbia together while aiding in the exploitation of mineral resources.
Origins of the Coal Industry. 7th Street South and 3rd Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta. Nicholas Sheran opened the first commercial coal mine in 1874.
Overlanders of 1862. Jasper National Park of Canada, Alberta. The Overlanders left their homes and were guided by Indians towards the Cariboo Gold Fields.
Ranching Industry National Historic Event. Bar U Ranch National Historic Site of Canada, Longview, Alberta. The Ranching industry on the Prairies began here in the 1880s where they raised cattle for Canadian and British markets.
