Canol Road National Historic Event. Junction of the Canol Road and the Alaska Highway, Johnsons Crossing, Yukon Territory. Completed in 1943, the Canol Road was part of the massive Canadian Oil project which included development of the Norman Wells Oilfields.
Dawson to Ashcroft Telegraph Line. Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. This former station was a major part of the 2700 km Dawson-Ashcroft telegraph line. It gave people, businesses, and governments access to a world-wide network of rapid communication.
Herschel Island. Herschel Island, Yukon Territory. In 1890 this island became the main location for American Whalers in the western Arctic.
Original Gold Discovery/Discovery Claim. Bonanza Creek, Yukon Territory. The discovery of gold on Bonanza Creek in 1896 and the rush to the Klondike in 1897-98 marked the culmination of prospecting and mining and the Yukon.
Whaling Industry in Western Arctic. Herschel Island, Yukon Territory. First prolonged contact between local Inuit peoples and Europeans, the results of which had devastating results for the local populations.
White Pass & Yukon Route Railway. End of Main Street, Whitehorse, Yukon Territory. This route was built at the time of the Klondike Gold Rush and became the heart of the Yukon transportation system.
