Chadiére Portages. Gatineau, Quebec. Part of the main canoe route to Western Canada.
Design and Construction of the Victoria Tubular Bridge. Bike path at the south entrance of the Victoria Bridge, Saint-Lambert, Quebec. The bridge is recognized worldwide as an outstanding engineering achievement.
Early Commercial Radio Broadcasting in Canada, 1918-1932. 606 Cathcart Street, Montréal, Quebec.
Establishment and Role of the St. Lawrence River Pilots. 1034 Lighthouse Road, Pointe-au-Père Lighthouse NHSC, Pointe-au-Père, Quebec. Since the mid-17th century, professional pilots have shaped the history of navigation on the St. Lawrence River by guiding ships between the Gulf and Montréal.
Establishment of the Commercial Bush-Flying Industry in Canada. 1321 Chemin de la Vigilance, Lac-Ă -la-Tortue, Shawinigan, Quebec. The era of commercial bush flying began in 1919 when Stuart Graham successfully piloted the first forest-fire reconnaissance flight in Canada.
Experience of Italian Sojourners. 1100 Canadiens-de-Montréal Avenue, Montréal, Quebec. These Sojourners participated in backbreaking work, producing steel, mining coal, and building infrastructure such as railways, bridges, and canals.
First Butter Factory in Canada. 2800 Athelson Road, Hinchinbrooke, Quebec. Farmers in Athelson established this factory in 1873.
First Paper Mill in Canada/Argenteuil Paper Mill. 165 Road 344, Saint-André-Est, Quebec. in 1804 two American paper makers, Walter Ware and Benjamin Wales, began construction of a mill near here to make paper from cloth rags.
Food and Agriculture Organization. Des Carrières St., Québec, Quebec. In this building on October 16th, 1945, representatives of 44 nations met and established the Food and Agriculture Organization, first of the new United Nations Agencies.
Fur Trade. Lachine, Quebec.
Hull, Timber Slide. Gatineau – Hull, Quebec. To avoid the dangerous Chaudière Falls, the firm Philemon Wright and Sons built a timber slide in 1829.
Lachine Rapids. Des Rapides Park, 7760 La Salle Boulevard, Lachine, Quebec. A natural obstacle on the main route into the continent played a key role in the establishment and development as Montréal as a major trade, production, and distribution centre.
MontrĂ©al Dressmakers’ Strike of 1937. 460 Sainte-Catherine Street West, MontrĂ©al, Quebec. This strike was a turning point in the unionization of a key industry in MontrĂ©al. Rose Pesotta, Lea Roback, and Yvette Charpentier, among others, rallied a primarily female French-Canadian workforce of more than 5,000.

Quebec Ship Labourers’ Benevolent Society. 761 Champlain Street, QuĂ©bec, Quebec. This was one of the most important labour societies of the 19th century. It marked a turning point in the collective promotion of worker’s interests combining mutual aid with union activities.
