Baldwin, Frederick Walker ‘Casey’. Baddeck, NS. Baldwin has been recognized for his pioneer work in aviation and hydrofoil watercraft, was the first Canadian to fly a plane and was the designer of the first aeroplane in North America to use the aileron.
Collins, Enos. Water Street, Halifax, NS. Collins is remembered as an ambitious seaman and an investor in mercantile and financial ventures while also contributing to the physical, commercial, and social development of Halifax.
Cunard, Sir Samuel. Point Pleasant Park, Halifax, NS. Cunard founded a commercial empire that embraced banking, lumber, land, coal, and shipping, in the maritime provinces.
La Boularderie, Sieurs. Little Bras d’Or – Alder Point Highway, Alder Point, NS. The Sieurs de la Boularderie, Louis-Simon (1674-1738) and his son Antoine (1705-C.1771), established a settlement at little Bras D’Or in 1720 to supply the French Fortress at Louisbourg with timber, coal, wheat, and fish.
McCurdy, John A. D. Baddeck, NS. McCurdy was a pioneer in the aircraft industry who served as the Assistant Director General of Aircraft Production in Canda (1939-47).
Menou d’Aulnay, Charles. Fort Anne National Historic Site, Annapolis Royal, NS. Menou d’Aulnay was commander of La Hève and Port Royal, and later governor of Acadia; he oversaw the construction of forts, mills, and schools, with a later interest in shipbuilding.
Walters, Captain Angus J. 37 Tanner Street, Lunenburg, NS. Walters is recognized as a legendary sailor and fisherman. His success as a fisherman and sailor brought international fame to the Atlantic Canadian Fishery.
Young, John ‘Agricola’. Halifax, NS. Young saw the diminishing quality of Nova Scotia’s farming industry and suggested avenues fro improvement; in response, new agricultural societies were developed.
